How it works
One good moment. Then another, because of it.
The pieces are small: write something down, let people see it, and keep the link when somebody does something of their own because of it. That link is the whole idea.
Moments and Quick Acts
Two ways to write it down, and the difference is who reads it.
A moment
Something good happened and you want your Circle to see it. Write it, add a photo if you have one, say where it happened — and it goes to the members of that Circle.
A quick act
A private note to yourself: “helped a neighbour with their shopping.” It counts towards what you have done, and nobody else ever reads it — not the Circle, not its officers.
Both count towards what you have done. The only difference is the audience, and you choose it per act.
The ripple
“I was inspired” keeps the link.
Anybody who reads your moment can log one of their own, pointing back at the one that set them off. Their moment then sits under yours as the next link in the chain.
That is what a Ripple Count is: not a score for how much you posted, but a record of how many people did something because of something you did.
A moment says where it came from, and the chain stays inside the Circle it belongs to. Nobody can answer their own moment — that would be logging more, not inspiration.
Molly
Helped a stranger carry shopping up four flights of stairs.
James
Inspired by Molly — checked in on an elderly neighbour.
Sarah
Inspired by James — paid for the coffee behind her in the queue.
Your Ripple Score
One for every act of kindness you log.
The ring on your own screen counts the acts you have logged: one for each moment you share and one for each Quick Act you keep to yourself. That is the whole number. It has no weights, no extra for a photo and none for the people you say you helped — every one of those would be a claim about somebody's kindness that nothing measured.
Six levels are named along the way, from Kindness Newbie to Legend of Kindness at four hundred. How far your kindness travelled is counted separately: the moments other people shared because of yours are a number of their own, beside the ring and not inside it.
And it is yours: the score is drawn on your own screen and nowhere else, so no Circle officer, no partner and no other member sees a number to compare you by.
Where it happened
Four levels, chosen per act, and coarsened before it is stored.
EXACT
The exact spot
A precise pin, kept to your Circle. Never the default.
APPROXIMATE
About a kilometre
The right neighbourhood, never the door. Snapped to a grid before it is written.
TOWN
Town or city
The default. Your town lights up; your street was never kept.
HIDDEN
Off the map
The moment still counts — it just never appears on a map.
The precise point of a town-level act is not blurred on the way out — it is never kept in the first place, which is what makes it unavailable to a search, an export or a backup.Safety covers the rest of it.
By omission
There is no comment box, and no direct message.
That is a product decision, not a feature still to come: there is nowhere in RippleCore to reply to somebody, nothing to pile onto, and no inbox that strangers can find. A moment can be answered — more than one way, and none of them is a reply — and then you move on.
The good news from a Circle travels the same way. There is no algorithm choosing what you see and no number counting your popularity: your Circles, newest first.
The best way to see it is a Circle of your own.
